Charlie Chaplin Ate a Shoe
Medium: live event
Year: 2012

Charlie Chaplin ate A Shoe is a performative event, which was carried out in Vauxhall, a place where the great comic Charlie Chaplin was born and raised. Vauxhall is currently undergoing major reconstruction and in grave danger of losing its original heritage. The event is a meticulous reenactment of Charlie Chaplin’s masterpieces such as The Kid and The City Lights, where places and props from the film were carefully matched up with those in reality and offered the public an interactive audio experience to innovatively explore and engage with the area. Through Charlie Chaplin's character the aim was to create meaningful interventions that add historical value and identity to Vauxhall that is perishing in recent years.
